We think it is time to change that!

While it is not our goal to promote atheism, we do think that through collective work we can make a big difference in areas like:

  • Protecting atheists at risk (e.g. victims of forced eviction from their homes and forcibly veiled women);
  • Challenging sectarian social norms and promoting rationality, humanism, secularism, equality, and freedoms;
  • Challenging the social stigma against atheism;
  • Contributing to secular political change in Lebanon;
  • Solidifying a sense of community, friendship, and support among like-minded individuals; and
  • Building the personal and professional skills of members.

To achieve the above, and until we complete the legal procedures of the official NGO registration, we intend to establish an organizational framework in which members can actively participate in decision-making.

Freethought Lebanon has been around for many years, but it has mostly been managed by only a few people. Turning the initiative into a professional grass-roots organization is the next big leap, especially that Freethought Lebanon is now well-connected to international humanist organizations and we are able to secure funding. As such, the potential for growth and impact is huge.

With that said, we would like to invite you to join Freethought Lebanon’s team as an official member.

Member Duties:

رغم أنّ نشر الإلحاد ليس هدفًا لنا، نرى أنّ تنسيق الجهود لعمل جماعيّ يحدث فرقًا كبيرًا على أكثر من مستوى، مثل:

  • حماية الملحدين الواقعين تحت الخطر (المجبرين/ات على مغادرة منازلهم/هن والمجبرات على ارتداء الحجاب، على سبيل المثال)؛
  • تحدّي الأعراف الاجتماعيّة الطائفيّة والترويج للعقلانيّة والإنسانويّة والعلمانيّة والمساواة والحريّات؛
  • مواجهة الوصمة الاجتماعيّة ضدّالإلحاد؛
  • المساهمة في التغيير السياسي العلماني في لبنان؛
  • تمتين حسّ التضامن والصداقة بين الأفراد المتشاركين في الفكر؛
  • وتطوير المهارات الشخصيّة والمهنيّة لدى الأعضاء.

في سبيل الوصول إلى ما سبق ذكره، وفيما تكتمل معاملات تسجيل Freethought Lebanon كمنظّمة غير حكوميّة وفق الآليّة الرسميّة، ننوي إنشاء إطار تنظيمي يسمح لأعضائه بالمشاركة الفاعلة في آليّات اتّخاذ القرارات.

منذ عدّة سنوات تمّ تأسيس Freethought Lebanon، ولكنّ إدارتها اعتمدت إلى الآن على فريق قليل العدد. من هنا أهميّة النقلة النوعيّة التي نطرحها بتحويل المبادرة إلى منظّمة جذور شعبيّة مكتملة العناصر، يُضاف إليها ما توصّلت إليه المنظّمة من نجاح في إنشاء شبكة علاقات متطوّرة مع منظّمات إنسانويّة عالميّة، ما يفتح أمام Freethought Lebanon أبوابًا واسعة للنموّ والتأثير بفضل برامج التمويل المتاحة.

بناءً على ما تقدّم، يسرّنا أن ندعوكم للانضمام إلى فريق Freethought Lebanon كعضو رسمي.

يعود لكم/لكنّ القرار في مدى مساهمتكم في المنظّمة، بحيث يمكنكم/ن الاكتفاء بحضور الجمعيّة العموميّة السنويّة، كما يمكنكم/ن حمل مسؤوليّات كبيرة على مستوى إدارة البرامج والفرق، أو حتّى الوصول إلى رئاسة المنظّمة.
قد يتمّ طلب دفع اشتراك عضويّة بقيمة رمزيّة كذلك.
