“There is real poetry in the world, science is the poetry of reality” – Richard Dawkins
Knowledge is each and every individual’s right, and the fact that we are surrounded by biased media twisting major scientific facts and breakthroughs into blasphemous conjectures doesn’t really serve the purpose. This is why “Freethought Lebanon”, on CLAFA’s 4th anniversary, decided to hold a screening in Lebanese theaters of a movie entitled “Dawkins on Darwin”, sent by the Richard Dawkins Foundation (RDF). This event aimed at widening our own understanding of Darwin’s theory and its implications in other fields such as Theology.
The movie was preceded by a 30-minute introductory lecture on the theory of Evolution by Dr. Riyad Sadek (PHD, Professor, Biology/Ecology department, AUB).
Next, a question session was held, after which the official launching of the website was announced.
